IOANNIS AGAPITIDIS, Chairman of the Board, Centre for Renewable Energy Sources (CRES), Greece
Ioannis S. Agapitidis is a civil engineer (Democritus University of Thrace, 1982) with a post graduate degree in environmental engineering (MSc, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, 1983) and an M.B.A. (Keele University, 1991). He first worked at the European Commission (DG Environment, 1985) and afterwards at the Hellenic Agency for Local Development and Local Government S.A. as a consultant on environmental projects. Later, he became director at the Energy and Environment Division, 1991-1994, and the Development Division, 1995-1998 of that company. In 1998, he joined the Management Organisation Unit for the Community Support Framework S.A. as Head of the Planning and Organization Division, providing support for strategic planning, organization and project management to bodies financed by the Community Support Framework. He was appointed President and Director General at the Centre for Renewable Energy Sources in July 2004. He speaks English and French.
Ioannis S. Agapitidis participates in the National Energy Strategy Council and has been president (2004-2005) of the Mediterranean Association of the National Agencies for Energy Conservation (MEDENER). He is vice president at the Hellenic Solid Waste Management Association and president at the Institute for the Management of Public Administration, a division of the Hellenic Management Association. |
